Sustainable Minds, Bright Futures – Schüleraustausch in Gandia

15 Schüler*innen des BG/BRG Judenburg hatten im vom 8. - 15. Februar 2026 die besondere Gelegenheit, an einem einwöchigen Austauschprogramm mit dem Colegio Abad Sola in Gandia (Spanien) teilzunehmen. Begleitet wurden sie von Mag.^a Ulrike Schlacher und Mag. Bernd Fiechtl. Im Mittelpunkt der Woche stand das gemeinsame Arbeiten an den 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – mit dem Projekttitel:

„Sustainable Minds, Bright Futures“

 

 

 

Ein turbulenter Start – Eine Reise voller Engagement

Die Anreise gestaltete sich aufgrund eines Felssturzes bei Mürzzuschlag herausfordernd. Der Zug musste gestoppt werden, und innerhalb kürzester Zeit organisierten die Lehrpersonen einen Ersatzbus, damit die Gruppe rechtzeitig den Flug in Wien erreichen konnte. Mit vereinten Kräften gelang der pünktliche Aufbruch nach Spanien – ein erster Vorgeschmack auf Teamwork und Problemlösungskompetenz.

 

Ein vielfältiges Programm rund um Europa, Umwelt und gemeinsames Lernen

Tag 1 – Ankommen in Gandia

Nach der Ankunft wurden unsere Schüler*innen herzlich von ihren spanischen Gastfamilien begrüßt – ein wichtiger erster Schritt in Richtung interkultureller Begegnung.

Tag 2 – Kennenlernen & SDG-Entdeckungen

Die Woche startete mit Ice‑Breaking‑Aktivitäten, einer Schulführung zum Thema SDG 4 – Quality Education, sowie einer Reflexion über den Besuch der spanischen Gruppe in Österreich.
Bei einer Stadtrallye suchten die Teams nach SDG‑Beispielen im historischen Zentrum von Gandia.

Tag 3 – Europa, Kultur & soziale Verantwortung

Ein EU‑Workshop vermittelte europäische Werte und aktives Bürgertum. Anschließend besuchte die Gruppe das historische Palau Ducal sowie das Caritas-Zentrum CAI, wo die Themen SDG 1 – No Poverty und SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities im Mittelpunkt standen.
Der Nachmittag am Strand bot Raum für Spiel, Austausch und neue Freundschaften.

Tag 4 – Leben unter Wasser

Ein Ausflug nach Dénia und Xàbia sowie eine Bootsfahrt zwischen den Küstenorten machten die Schülerinnen auf die Bedeutung von SDG 14 – Life Below Water aufmerksam. In Gesprächen im Hafen ging es um Meeresschutz und Umweltverschmutzung.

Tag 5 – Valencia entdecken

In Valencia besuchte die Gruppe die beeindruckende Stadt der Künste und Wissenschaften – erneut im Zeichen von SDG 4 – Quality Education – und erkundete die historische Altstadt.

Tag 6 – Inklusion, nachhaltiger Konsum & Empfang im Rathaus

Der Freitag begann mit einem Inklusionsworkshop von Auna Inclusió zu SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities und SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production.
Danach arbeiteten die Jugendlichen in SDG‑Workshops und spielten ein eigens entwickeltes SDG‑Brettspiel.
Am Nachmittag folgte ein feierlicher Empfang im Rathaus von Gandia, bei dem die Gruppe offiziell begrüßt und das Projekt gewürdigt wurde – ein besonderer Beitrag zu SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.

Tag 7 – Zeit in den Gastfamilien

Der Samstag bot Raum für persönliche Begegnungen, Familienleben und individuelle Aktivitäten.

Tag 8 – Rückreise nach Österreich

Mit vielen neuen Eindrücken, Erfahrungen und entstandenen Freundschaften trat die Gruppe die Heimreise an.

Lernen mit digitalen Tools & internationaler Zusammenarbeit

Während des gesamten Projekts arbeiteten die Schüler*innen mit digitalen Anwendungen:

• Padlet als gemeinsame Austauschplattform
• Digitale Reisetagebücher (Interviews, Videos, Berichte)
• Online‑Formulare für alle administrativen Aufgaben
• Gemeinsame Kommunikationskanäle (MS-Teams und WhatsApp)

Die Jugendlichen gestalteten zudem ein eigenes Logo für das Projekt; das endgültige Logo wurde in Spanien gewählt.

 Abschlussreflexion und Ausblick

Am Ende der Woche erhielten die österreichischen und spanischen Schüler*innen ihre Zertifikate  und reflektierten noch einmal über das Gelernte.
Besonders im Fokus stand die Frage:
„Wie können wir die 17 SDGs in unserem eigenen Alltag und an unserer Schule verwirklichen?“

Mit gestärkten Sprachkenntnissen, erweitertem Umweltbewusstsein und vielen neuen Freundschaften kehrten die Schüler*innen nach Judenburg zurück – ein echtes Beispiel dafür, wie europäische Zusammenarbeit junge Menschen nachhaltig prägt.

Day 1 

In the morning, we played ball games and it was really fun. After that, the Spanish students had lessons, but the Austrian students had a nice snack from their host families. Then only the Austrians went to Palau Ducal dels Borja and had an interesting guided tour. The tour guide explained everything very well and we saw many beautiful pictures. Later, we met the Spanish students again and went together to a very interesting Caritas workshop, where we learned many new and great things. After that, we walked to the beach. Some Austrians went into the sea even though it was only 13 degrees, but they still enjoyed it. Most people spent the rest of the day at the beach, playing football or volleyball. It was a wonderful day.

 Day 3

 

After arriving in Denia, we went to the harbor and continued our trip by boat. The boat ride was calm and well organized. The sea was mostly smooth, so the ride was comfortable. During the trip, we could see the coastline from a different perspective. After some time, we reached our destination and continued with our program.

Later, we took a bus to Xabia. From Denia, we went up a mountain. The road led uphill with several curves. When we reached the top, we had a clear view of the surrounding area, the sea, and the nearby towns. We stayed there for a while, took some photos, and listened to explanations about the region. After that, we went back down.

Afterwards, we went to the beach. We spent some time there. Some people from the group went swimming, while others stayed on the beach or walked along the shore. The weather was warm but not too hot. The time at the beach was relaxed and without any special incidents.

At 3:20 p.m., we left to return to Gandia. The bus ride back took some time, but it was smooth. Many people used the time to rest or talk with each other. When we arrived in Gandia, our host families picked us up.

We spent the afternoon with our host families. Everyone spent the time differently. Some went for short walks in the city, while others stayed at home and talked or relaxed. It was a good opportunity to learn more about everyday life in the families and to have conversations.

Overall, it was a varied but calm day with different activities. We used different means of transportation, visited several places, and had both group activities and time with our host families. The schedule was well organized and everything went according to plan.

 Day 4

 

 Day 5

 On Friday, we had a very exciting and eventful day as part of our Erasmus+ project.We artived at school and later, we walked to the town hall where we listened to several speeches. It was very interesting and we learned more about the city. After the visit, we returned to school.

We then played a game together with the Spanish students. It was a lot of fun and helped us get to know each other better. Afterwards, we had a break to eat and relax.

Later, we took part in a workshop with people with disabilities. In this workshop, we had to guess different flowers by their smell. Afterwards, we made our own bookmarks and also created small lavender bags. It was a creative and enjoyable experience.

At the end of the school day, we wrote down what we liked most about the day and received our Erasmus+ certificates. Then I went home.

In the afternoon, I played with my family and we ate together. In the evening, I went to Laia’s house, where we played more games and listened to music. Later, we all had dinner together at a restaurant. Finally, I arrived back home. It was a wonderful and unforgettable Friday.
