Report

6th of February:

On the 6th of July we went from Graz to Las Palmas by plane.
We met at 04:30 on the airport of Graz where we started our trip via Frankfurt to Las Palmas.  We accompanied our three students to Las Palmas where they were picked up by their host families. My college Miss Voit and I went to our Hotel in Las Palmas to make the check in.
In the afternoon we went for a walk through the City center of Las Palmas.

7th + 8th of February:

On the next day, on Wednesday, we arrived at 08:30 in Valsequillo, the village of our host school. The headmaster and Ricardo, our Erasmus Coordinator, gave us a warm welcome.
The rest of the day till 14:30 I could participate in the lessons of different Mathematics’ teachers.

Here you can see my timetable for that week.

During the week I was able to get to know different teachers, different methods of teaching in different grades. So I enjoyed to have the possibility of great diversion as well in the methods of  teaching as well as to get to know different students.

The most fascinating experience was the fact that one of the Teachers is the author of his own Mathematics’ book which he uses to teach in his lessons.

So I did not only improve my Spanish and English knowledge but also acquired new learning practices. I was also integrated in his lessons to help the students to solve exercises in Math’s lessons and to share my own knowledge with them.

9th of February:

In the first three lessons I participated in lessons. Then we had the great chance to see a special event of Carnival. All the teachers and students went together to the townhall where some groups of students presented various songs and dance performances. My colleague and I also danced with some teachers of Valsequillo a typical dance of Spain.
After the award ceremony for the best presentations all went together to a place where a big fish made of paper and wood was burned. That’s a typical tradition of the Gran Canarians Carnival.
After that great experience we had lunch together with several teachers of the school.

10th of February:

On Saturday we made a trip to the South of Gran Canaria to explore and enjoy the wonderful reservation of birds near Maspalomas.

11th of February

On Sunday we had to go back to Austria y plane.
It was a great experience for me. I got to know so many nice people and enjoyed our stay. I improved my linguistics skills and got to know new ways of teaching methods.
I´m so thankful having the opportunity to participate in this program.
